I started writing online using an HTML editor and manually updating pages on a daily basis. Then I switched to Greymatter back in 2002? Months later, my previous server host had a total meltdown of their L.A. office which prompted my switch to Dixie Internet Systems (whom I ♥) and Movable Type. This was back when Ben and Mena would personally respond to e-mails . Over the years I stuck with MT, through good times and bad, and any work-arounds with the CGI files were fairly tolerated. Those days are over. Welcome to WordPress. Installation was a snap and I never had to go near the core files to make them work with my site. Importing entries from Movable Type to WordPress was a breeze. Now I need to migrate images for previous posts then wrap a custom site design around these templates. Voilà.

Every holiday I compile songs into a winter mix for friends and family. Normally I’ve only compiled songs that can fit onto 1 CD, but this year I decided to compile 51 songs for 3 CDs. Because a, I’m generous with friends and family, and b, there was a lot of good music that came my way this year: electronic, hip-hop, instrumental, alternative—everything but gospel and country. The Winter Mix isn’t for public consumption, but drop me a line if you’d like to receive or trade mixes. Have a Safe and Happy 2008. ox, -J. (and Vinnie) p.s. No, I still haven’t made my holiday cards. Shut it.

A time for families to come together and give thanks for stuff, like family values and low-APR credit cards. The fourth Thursday of every November, Thanksgiving is a time for Americans to give thanks for what they have and reflect upon our founding fathers’ first feast in a new land. Others, like myself, go to Italy for a week. No cell phone, no internet, just my journals, my camera, and hanging out with Italian grandmothers on the train. Be sure to do your part on Black Friday—I plan to visit Prada on Thursday and Saturday to show my support. Ciao!
