Last Saturday I received an e-mail from one Robert Burns, the subject line read “Fwd: Re: Fwd: Re your pictures.” I hadn’t the foggiest clue who this person was or what the message entailed, so I opened the e-mail and read the following:
Morning James. Let me take a few moments to apologize to you for us getting away out whack here. Give me the new invoice for the $6.00 to my Canadian address & I will paypal you. I can go on forever with this anger to you,but what’s the use. The game is ended now so let’s carry on. By the way neither the law or the internet can do anything at what transpires here as I have not threatened you in any way. I have been her since the 90s & have been having a terriffic amount of fun & luck. My collection of Hank Snow’s is the largest in the world with my hard work & help from Jimmy Snow his son as well as Hank when he came to Vancouver. The ball is in your court,face up now & lets carry on like older gentlemen. Bob (By the way I am leaving for the U.S. here in a couple of hours)
Robert was responding to an e-mail from james.elliott51 who possesses the writing skills of a nimrod:
its 2 dollars per picture stupid ,,you think your so smart but more like stupid,i have sold 42 items in the last 2 weeks how about your dumb ..do not email me again or i am turning it over to the law
I sent Robert a reply letting him know that he had the wrong e-mail address for James, as Yahoo! provided me an alias address james.elliott in addition to jhames. Robert responded:
Oh well,never mind,I will go and enjoy myself for a week in the sunshine,then come home & go north to a month of fishing,then willbe back down in California for 2 months more. You see your threats don’t worry me as make out all the harrasments you want. This was a business deal that you screwed up & now you can’t even catch your breath to come forward to make it work. People like you have problems to which I don’t care to be apart of. James you take care & carry on with your bad attitude. When I get back I will be lodging a non transaction with ebay. So see you.
I let it the conversation end there and went about my day, it seemed pointless to tell Robert that he was addressing the wrong James Elliott. A week passes, this morning I received another e-mail:
Well,morning,to you,now does this reach you just fine,what have you decided about sending those pictures,I have limited time today,as will be leaving again,matter of fact,will be gone for quite a while,I will be having a great time up north fishing,weather is nice & warm.
I hope you fish better than you e-mail, Bob.
