I’ve been out of the closet since I was 15. I go to work and I pay my taxes. If my boyfriend, godforbid, were to go to the hospital, I wouldn’t be allowed in the hospital since I am not legally recognized as his spouse. If I were to suddenly die, he would have no say in my funeral arrangements because he is not legally recognized as my spouse.
I have no civil rights as a gay man, and I’m tired of it.
