It’s been a long time since I’ve written anything, and I blame the previous design iteration of my website for that. I was unmotivated to interact with my site because I was never really happy with the overall design—like when you have a child that never seems to do anything right but you still love it (just not on any level below the surface). I built the previous iteration in keeping with the advent of HTML5. I did my best to keep DIV tags structured to SECTION, ARTICLE, and ASIDE. I liked the visual grid and layout of text in the design, but the actual design itself was a constant thorn in my side. Hey kids! Fun story. Know what happens when you install the new WordPress 3.0 beta? It breaks your previous template! And then you don’t have anything to show people except a blank screen. How fun is that? Oh, the good times. Stay tuned, I am incredibly busy and will hopefully have all sorts of good news to share with you. And maybe a working WordPress template. Who knows!


What I am currently absorbing

Back in the day (puff) a friend of mine* started an online project called 5 Things New York, based on the original 5 Things in Washington, D.C. Now it seems everyone has a 5 Things list of some kind. So, naturally, I have to jump on the bandwagon. Here is what I am currently absorbing on the world wide web: Richard McCoy is a freelance designer in the UK who wrote a rather brilliant post how The 10 Commandments apply to design. I like how Richard blends advice with a healthy dose of affirmation in this post, and I would love to see it as a poster. Ian Stewart is a graphic artist that is presenting a 12-day/post course How To Create a WordPress Theme.
