“…he’s probably either an utter bastard or a cherished gift to humanity.”

I began my formal education in fine arts at Pratt Institute, studying printmaking & book arts. I later transferred to Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design and completed my BFA in advertising & graphic design with emphasis in typography and design history. I have worked professionally in advertising & graphic design since 1996, and I work in many disciplines of design, including identity, print and web.

I am also a professional member of The Graphic Artists Guild, a national union of illustrators, designers, web creators, production artists, surface designers and other creatives who have come together to pursue common goals, share their experience, raise industry standards, and improve the ability of visual creators to achieve satisfying and rewarding careers.

If you’re wondering how I get my inspiration, I won’t lie to you: I’m touched by God. I was also raised in a family that’s completely batshit. Really. The story about My Grandmother The Dog Killer is just such an example. If you’re uncomfortable with my use of “batshit”, let me assure you I can do so because this is my site. Were I you, and thank Sweet Merciful Baby Jesus that I am, in fact, not you, I would sit back, relax, top off your drink with a bit more firewater, and enjoy my site.

How do you pronounce “Jhames”? What’s with the “h”?

A boy in my seventh grade French class loved to flaunt his ability for speaking français by saying my name as “zha-mez” or “juh-ha-mez.” My friends found my new moniker stylings cool, so they adopted the same exaggerated style and placed an “h” in my name to ensure proper pronunciation.

Jhames is my name, don’t wear it out.
